Senior Tax Accountant

Salary:  $100k DOE with potential for advancement.
Location: San Francisco CA
Reports to: Owner  

Our client, a Boutique CPA Firm in the financial district of San Francisco, is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant. They are in the process of acquiring the practice of a retiring CPA – hence, the immediate and unique opening. This provides a great professional growth opportunity in that you will be playing a primary role in integrating the new practice into the firm and you’ll be entrusted with extensive client contact.

    •    Primarily responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns including complex tax projects.
    •    Client Management - They will be acquiring over 100 new accounts with this acquirement of the new practice. The Senior Tax accountant will be responsible but not limited to handling the majority of these clients.
    •    Prepare and review complex income tax returns including consolidated and multi-state tax returns
    •    Initiate communications with and respond to taxing authorities in tax controversy matters
    •    Develop relationships with client personnel responsible for tax issues· Manage competing priority deliverables and communicate accordingly to deliver excellent client service Engagement Management
    •    Communicate both internally and externally to manage expectations and keep the engagement progressing
    •    Develop and motivate engagement staff by providing technical assistance as needed
    •    Foster teamwork and innovation to enhance the client service experience· Professional Development
    •    Demonstrate technical curiosity that allows for professional and personal growth
    •    Demonstrate the ability to ask questions that will further your understanding of the client and the return
    •    Demonstrate the ability to multitask and communicate accordingly with in-charges


    •    3-6 years recent experience in public accounting with a primary focus on tax preparation and review including multi-state returns
    •    Exceptional communication skills and comfort/competency with client interaction.
    •    Ability to supervise others
    •    Excellent research and writing skills
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field from an accredited college/university
    •    Successful completion of the CPA exam, licensed CPA or JD
