Senior Tax Accountant

Salary:  $100k DOE with potential for advancement.

Our client, a Boutique CPA Firm in the financial district of San Francisco, is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant. They are in the process of acquiring the practice of a retiring CPA – hence, the immediate and unique opening. This provides a great professional growth opportunity in that you will be playing a primary role in integrating the new practice into the firm and you’ll be entrusted with extensive client contact.

    •    Primarily responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns including complex tax projects.
    •    Client Management - They will be acquiring over 100 new accounts with this acquirement of the new practice. The Senior Tax accountant will be responsible but not limited to handling the majority of these clients.
    •    Prepare and review complex income tax returns including consolidated and multi-state tax returns
    •    Initiate communications with and respond to taxing authorities in tax controversy matters
    •    Develop relationships with client personnel responsible for tax issues· Manage competing priority deliverables and communicate accordingly to deliver excellent client service Engagement Management
    •    Communicate both internally and externally to manage expectations and keep the engagement progressing
    •    Develop and motivate engagement staff by providing technical assistance as needed
    •    Foster teamwork and innovation to enhance the client service experience· Professional Development
    •    Demonstrate technical curiosity that allows for professional and personal growth
    •    Demonstrate the ability to ask questions that will further your understanding of the client and the return

    •    3-6 years recent experience in public accounting with a primary focus on tax preparation and review including multi-state returns
    •    Exceptional communication skills and comfort/competency with client interaction.
    •    Ability to supervise others
    •    Excellent research and writing skills
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field from an accredited college/university
    •    Successful completion of the CPA exam, licensed CPA or JD

A strong Tax Management and Consulting firm is looking for a Director to lead the New Jersey office.

The candidate would be expected to be highly technical –tax accounting, derived from the accounting arena.  Our clients are fortune 500/SEC, large corporations.  

    •    Provide and direct all tax services to large-to-mid, multi-national corporations, Fortune 500 companies and SEC clients.
    •    Building and managing client relationships, projects, engagement teams and staff. Directing large corporate compliance engagements.
    •    Directing ASC 740 tax service engagement as it applies to publicly traded companies and SEC registrants.

    •    CPA or JD/LLM
    •    Subject matter specialist around FAS 109
    •    Prior leadership position and experience in management of staff required
    •    10-15 years of public accounting experience, preferably big 4 or large regional firm

They are looking for an effective TEAM-leader as their CTO someone who shares and is able to achieve that vision of drastically increasing their business success as well as their current team of talented professionals as needed.  Background in the airline or travel industry is important, as is  e-commerce experience, and since success depends heavily on leadership qualities, personality is the key for this position!

Position Summary:
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company.  The CTO works with Executive Management to grow the company through the use of technological resources. Using an active and practical approach, the CTO will direct all employees in IT and IO departments to attain the company’s strategic goals established in the company’s strategic plan.


    •    Establish the company’s technical vision and lead all aspects of the company’s technological development.
    •    Directs the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.
    •    Work in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as marketing, production and operations as an advisor of technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    •    Align the IT vision with the overall business strategy of the organization,
    •    Provide leadership to department heads to supports the company’s culture, mission and values.
    •    Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies and make determinations on the probability of implementation.
    •    Acts as a good steward of company resources and ensure control of IT and IO departmental budgets.

Education and Experience:
    •    BS in related field and at least 15 years experience in the Information Technology arena, at least 10 years management and strategic experience in this field or MBA/MS in related filed with 10 years experience, 7 of which must be managerial and strategic.
    •    Must have experience in e-commerce
    •    Extremely strong preference for experience in the Travel Industry.

    •    Ability to actively communicate, inspire and motivate all levels of staff.
    •    Ability to think and act strategically and proactively.
    •    Strong writing and presentation skills.

Assume full responsibility for directing multiple engagements
Provide clients with Tax Compliance, Research, Consulting for corporate, partnership and individual returns
Provide oversight and direction to team of tax specialists in the delivery of tax services.
Initiate and present effective tax planning strategies for a diverse range of middle market clients.
Research and report on trends and developments concerning complex domestic and international tax issues.
Build existing and new client relationships
Actively participate in practice initiatives including marketing committees, business and community organizations, prospective client proposal teams, continuing professional education, and professional development programs.
Develop and guide staff and other junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback and aligning team responsibilities with skills and developmental goals;

CPA license
Advanced degree in taxation is preferred
Candidates should have five to seven years experience in corporate and partnership taxation with an emphasis on compliance and research (Forms 1120, 1120S and 1065.). 
(2) years experience as a tax manager

 Strong leadership skills, ability to participate in and manage teams
